A vibrant and uplifting artwork that captures a glimpse of the Goyt river in Brabyns Park, Marple Bridge. The hero of this piece is the beautiful stone dome and remnants from the building of Brabyns Weir in 1805. The painting’s title ‘Wright’s Folly’ references Nathaniel Wright, owner of Brabyn’s Estate in 1805, who built but never used this weir for it’s orginal purpose, as in doing so would have flooded the entire estate!
